The Charles Eames Style Organic Chair originally designed in 1940 is a high quality reproduction in the style of the original design.
Originally designed as a comfortable small reading chair, made in 1940 as a contribution to the New York MoMA's "Organic Design in Home Furnishings" competition. Formally speaking it was ahead of its time, but owing to the lack of manufacturing techniques, never went into production. It was not until after 1950 that it became possible to manufacture larger quantities of organically shaped seat shells and market them. The first were chairs such as Eames' famous Plastic Armchair or Saarinen's Tulip Chair.
Suitable as a contemporary office chair, this reproduced design classic can also be used in many rooms as a side chair or dining chair.
One of the most influential designers of the 20th century, Charles Eames was known for his playful experimentation with new materials and styles, most evident in his designs for children.
